The answers before you start
What photos do I need?
Use a clear base photo and a separate portrait of the person to add. Check the selected model’s reference limit before uploading.
Which mode should I choose?
Choose Image to Image for editing an existing photo. Text to Image creates a new scene from words and does not use reference uploads.
Can I try it free?
Prepare your photos and prompt first. Sign in to check your available balance; each generated edit uses the displayed credit quote.
How much and how long?
The model and output settings determine the cost. Read the quote before starting, then follow the job in History.
Compose your group photo
How it works: from your idea to the finished image

Choose Image to Image and add the base
Start with the group or scene photo that contains the background and existing people you want to keep. Use the full image when possible so perspective and lighting remain easy to read.
Add a clear person reference
Choose a sharp portrait with a visible face and clothing. Use a viewpoint and lighting close to the base scene. The selected model controls how many references can be added.
Describe placement and matching light
Say where the person should stand or sit, compare their height with someone already in the photo, and mention light direction. Name the people and background details you want to retain. Check the quote, then generate.
Inspect the faces and edges
Open the result at full size in History. Compare existing faces, the added person, hands, shadows and the background. Download the image you prefer, or refine one placement or lighting detail for another version.
How to write an effective placement prompt
Use concrete directions such as “Add the person from the portrait to the right end of the back row, slightly behind the person in the blue jacket. Match their shoulder height and the daylight coming from the left.” List the background and existing people to retain, then avoid adding unrelated changes in the same request.
Use the first uploaded image as the base scene and the additional uploaded portrait as the reference for the person to add. Place the new person at the right end of the group, with a relaxed standing pose, matching the camera angle, relative height and soft daylight from the left. Keep the existing people, clothing, room and background as close to the base image as possible. Natural expressions and grounded shadows, no text or logos.
What makes a useful person reference?

Choose one person per reference, with a sharp face and enough of the shoulders or body to explain the pose. A standing group photo works best with a compatible standing reference. Avoid heavy filters, deep shadows and objects covering the face. Make sure you have permission to use the people’s photos.
Photo edits you can plan

Complete a family group
Place the person beside someone of a similar height and match the direction of their face. Keep the room or garden unchanged in the prompt.
Bring a colleague into a team photo
Use a portrait with a similar dress style and camera angle. Describe the row, spacing and shoulder alignment so the group feels balanced.
Build a creative reunion scene
Combine a setting and person reference for a new composition. Start with one addition, review it, then decide whether another edit is needed.

How do I add a person to an existing photo?
Choose Image to Image, upload the base scene and an appropriate person reference, and describe the position, relative size and lighting. Review the quote before generating and inspect the finished image in History.
Can I do this in Text to Image?
Text to Image creates a new scene from a written description. Use Image to Image when your existing photo and person reference should guide an edit.
Can I add more than one person?
Check the selected model’s reference limit. Start with one addition for a simpler composition, or identify each person and their position clearly when the model supports enough references.
Can I try adding someone for free?
You can prepare the photos and prompt before generating. Sign in to check your available balance. Each submitted generation requires the credits shown in the current quote.
How much does one edit cost?
The current model and image settings determine the quote. Review it in the generator before you submit. Visit Pricing to compare available credit plans.
How long does the edited image take?
Follow the job in History until processing finishes. The model, image settings and current queue affect the wait.
How do I make the addition look natural?
Match camera angle, light direction and relative height between the base and portrait. Describe where the person belongs, then inspect faces, hands, shadows and edges at full size before using the image.
